Enjoying Heartwood in the rain

Today it was incredibly rainy in the morning and the temperature dropped off in the afternoon. It felt as though winter has finally arrived and yet we had a fun time working together under the shelter and inside the polly tunnel. We lit a warm fire and had plenty of hot drinks to keep us cosy and even a piece of delicious cake baked by one of our students.

Woodworking projects were making bird boxes, more bug hotels and some silver birch clothes pegs. We worked as a team to dig a channel in the morning to divert the rainwater away from the wooden cupboard and in the afternoon we raked up a lot of leaves to be used to make biochar. A great day was had by us all.

We were thrilled to see how well the chilli plants are doing which we have grown from seed in the polly tunnel
